FAQs
Everything you need to hear about Soundtrait
What paper are the prints made on?
Enhanced matte art paper - a heavyweight 200gsm fine art stock with a smooth finish and a natural white tone. The matte surface removes glare and lifts the highlights, so the waveform stays crisp from across the room.
Every print is made with giclée printing and pigment-based archival inks: the standard museums and galleries use, and it won't fade indoors.
How long will my print take to arrive?
Every print is made freshly to order. Unframed prints are printed within two working days and sent rolled, ready for your frame; framed prints are made in about three days and arrive ready to hang.
At checkout you choose the delivery.
Budget: typically Evri 48, two to three working days, not tracked.
Standard: typically Evri 24, one to two working days, not tracked.
Express: typically Royal Mail Tracked 24, one to two working days, tracked.
Overnight, unframed prints only: typically DPD, next working day, tracked.
Budget and Standard are free on unframed prints from £30 (that's the items, before delivery). Framed prints always travel by tracked courier and are delivered at cost, shown at checkout. Couriers are subject to change; we'll always use an equivalent service. You'll get an email when your order is on its way, with a tracking link on tracked services.
When do I get a digital download?
Within minutes of checkout. You'll get a link on the payment confirmation screen and by email. The files are prepared the moment your order lands, and the download page refreshes itself while they render.
Which sizes can I order?
Nineteen sizes in three families. A-series sheets run A5 through to A0; frame sizes in inches go from 8 × 10 up to 24 × 36, the sizes ready-made frames are sold in; and squares run from 20 cm to 70 cm. A4, A3, 8 × 10 and 12 × 16 are the most popular for a single wall; A1, A0 and 24 × 36 are statement pieces. Every size is printed at full 300 DPI.
Can I change one of your designs?
Yes - that's what the Customise this design button does. It opens the design in our editor with everything intact, and you can change the song, the colours, the wording or the layout, then order your version in any size.
Is the waveform really from the song?
Always. The editor tells you exactly which sound it is drawing, and every route is honest about what it uses.
Songs in our library are drawn from the whole recording, start to finish. Search for anything else and we draw a 30 second clip, and the artwork says so rather than stretching it to pretend it is more. Upload your own copy and the whole song is read right in your browser: the file never leaves your device, nothing is uploaded, and we keep no copy. Or record anything at all, a voice, a room, a moment, and watch it take shape live.
Whatever the source, the loud parts, the quiet parts and the pauses sit exactly where they are in the sound. Two sounds never look the same.
What if you don't have my song?
You'll still make your artwork. Anything we don't hold in full is drawn from a 30 second clip, or you can upload your own copy and the whole recording is read in your browser. If we've made you go and buy a song we don't hold, the upload route takes £1.50 off as a sorry for the trouble.
Can I have it framed?
Every size comes framed if you want it: a solid wood Classic frame in black, white or natural, with a clear acrylic front and no mount, delivered ready to hang. Choose Black, White or Natural in the Size menu of the editor, or in the Frame option on any design's page. Unframed prints are sent rolled, ready for your own frame.
